About

The Pikes Peak Highlanders was founded in 1985 by Royal Canadian Air Force Major Bob Tracy. The band has enjoyed a long and successful journey as a competition and performance pipe band and has provided the sounds of Great Highland Bagpipes and Scottish drums to the front range for nearly 40 years. And in 2024, the band competed in Scotland at the Abernethy Highland Games in Nethy Bridge, at the European World Championships at Perth, and in the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow as a finalist in the Grade 4B competition.

Our Uniforms
Our band wears the Prince Charles Edward Stewart Tartan Muted with black 5-button vest, white collared dress shirt, kilt hose with matching tartan flashes, and traditional Glengarry with a red hackle. For our more casual events, we switch out the black vest and dress shirt for our black Pikes Peak Highlander branded polo shirt and ball cap.

Western United States Pipe Band Association
We're both a grade five and grade four band in the western US's premier association for pipe and drum groups. You can learn more about the Western United States Pipe Band Association here. We regularly compete in juried competitions and participate in special events and festivals.
